Dean’s Choice: ES-250 Tracked Primary Shredder

McCloskey Environmental ES-250

We are kicking off our 24-machine countdown with the McCloskey ES-250 Tracked Primary Shredder, introduced by recycling and waste management expert Dean Ashton.

Dean has been working in the industry for over 20 years and joined Agg-Pro last year as Product Line Manager for the McCloskey Environmental and CRS NI brands. For all of your recycling and waste management needs, Dean is here to help.

What can you tell us about McCloskey Environmental?

“McCloskey provide world-class machines to the waste management and recycling industry, with machines that are easy to use and perform brilliantly against a huge range of materials, from black waste, pallets, mattresses and tyres.”

Can you introduce us to the ES-250?

“Today, I’m introducing the new McCloskey Environmental ES-250 Twin Shaft Slow Speed Primary Shredder.

Built by McCloskey in Northern Ireland, and being part of the Metso Group, the ES-250 along with all the other machines are built to world-class standards - as you would expect.

This machine uses proven and reliable shredding technology with the Rentec shredding chamber, Hagglund closed loop hydraulics, and is available in two shaft configurations: 8 and 10 knife set-ups.

Available with 2 engine choices, either Volvo Penta D13 or CAT C13 (both EU Stage V), gives you the option and allows you to choose your preference.

The compact design, folding conveyors, tracked chassis, remote control, easy hydraulic control, all make for a compact design for easy transportation, manoeuvrability and quick set up.”

What is a primary shredder?

“The main purpose of a primary shredder is to provide volume reduction with high throughput, across various waste streams in challenging environments.”

What makes the ES-250 stand out?

“The ES-250 really is a stand out machine. It is simple to use, with a clear and easy-to-understand user interface. Operators are able to switch between functions, change programmes, monitor machinery performance, report and diagnose faults... just to name a few!

The Shredder is fitted with an over-band magnet, which is fully height adjustable, allowing for the separation of ferrous metals from the waste stream.”

How is the ES-250 able to shred such an exhaustive list of materials?

“The ES-250 is an aggressive shredder capable of handling almost everything.

The ES-250 provides the ultimate solution for recycling and waste management centres for two reasons: a fully welded shaft design, and an aggressive cutting table. There are no knives that can be ripped off, thereby increasing the lifecycle and up-time of the machine, while also keeping maintenance costs to a minimum.

Its shafts are 2500mm long and are asynchronized to keep material fluid. This helps to eliminate bridging, while giving you the ability to maintain a high throughput and allowing the end user to affect fraction sizes (typically from >400mm to <200mm, depending on the media you are shredding).”

Why would a customer choose the ES-250 over a competitor’s machine?

“There are many advantages over competitors’ machines.

The machine’s reliability, robustness and performance through proven technology is at the top of the list. It is a world-class machine in terms of its build quality and components, with big fuel savings and lower CO2 emissions with a smaller engine and super-efficient hydraulic system. The ES-250 ensures lower service and maintenance costs due to its superior durability, lifecycle and up-time.

The versatility of this machine cannot be overstated. It can be used for all waste streams in multiple applications and comes with the knowledge and experience of the waste management and recycling industry experts at Agg-Pro. With Agg-Pro you also have unrivalled after sales support, so don’t hesitate to contact us for more information.”

If a customer is interested in the ES-250, what should they do?

“To learn more about the McCloskey Environmental ES-250, request a demonstration or to learn about any equipment from the Environmental range, contact myself or the team at Agg-Pro.”
