Agg-Pro shows its commitment to mental health support with new workplace first aider

We are proud to announce that we now have a qualified in-house Mental Health Workplace First Aider after HSEQ Co-Ordinator James Garbutt passed his FAQ Level 3 (RQF) Certification.

At Agg-Pro, we are committed to the welfare of our team. We believe that mental health is just as crucial as physical health since it can deteriorate at any time for a variety of reasons.

According to Mind charity, 24% of people in the UK will experience mental health troubles every year. That is almost 17 million people.

James Garbutt commented, “Mental health doesn’t discriminate. It can impact anyone so it is incredibly important that our team at Agg-Pro know they have someone who can help them through difficult times.”

James completed his qualification with St. John’s Ambulance Training and learnt to recognise different types of mental health issues, including bipolar and depression which affects around 16% of people in the UK according to the Office of National Statistics.

As part of the training, James learned how to communicate with someone in the workplace about their concerns and difficulties through role plays and scenarios responding to an at-work episode or crisis. He also gained proficiency in completing risk assessments regarding mental health and facilitating the return of a colleague following a leave of absence.

This qualification helps James support Agg-Pro’s culture of support and open communication and we are exceptionally proud to support our staff in this way.
