Hurt Plant Hire, with sites in the North West, North Wales and Greater Manchester, is part of the FOX Group and prides itself in offering their customers a reliable and efficient service that utilises the latest industry technology.

Having made numerous McCloskey purchases from Agg Pro in the past, including multiple J40 Jaw Crushers and a 516 Trommel, Hurt made yet another statement of intent with the acquisition of the McCloskey C2 Cone Crusher.

We spent some time with the Hurt Operations Director, George Leeming, who told us; “We’ve certainly noticed the increased efficiency the McCloskey C2 Cone brings with it.

“It’s enabled us to dramatically increase the volume of high-quality granite and limestone aggregates we can supply from our Anglesey quarry. In fact, we’ve seen a significant increase in production.”

When asked about the impact this is having on the company as a whole, George said; “Well, we now have the infrastructure to offer this stone throughout North Wales and beyond.

“As you would expect this has presented us with lots of new and significant revenue streams.”

C2 Key Features
  • Features a Metso built high performance 200 cone.
  • Hydraulic CSS adjust.
  • Fuel efficient – utilises Caterpillar T5 engine and direct drive clutch.
  • Robust open chassis design.
  • Independent Webasto heater ensures crusher lube oil can be heated to the correct temperature prior to starting the machine, therefore reducing engine idle time.
  • Metal detector.
  • Flexible and adjustable feed via control panel, remote control or fully automatic regulation.

We then caught up with Barry Martin, the companies Engineering Manager. He was quick to emphasise that Agg Pro is always his port of call for any service or spares queries.

“I have a great relationship with the service and spares teams at Agg Pro. Phil is always on hand to offer advice and will go over and above to make sure we get what we need as soon as possible. The same applies for Melvyn in getting us any spare parts we need.”

Barry then commented on the usage of McCloskey machines within their quarries; “I really enjoy working on the McCloskey machines, as well as the benefits in terms of throughput, they are straightforward to use.

“It just feels like they have been designed and built with the operator and mechanic in mind, which can only be a good thing.”
